Chevrolet Vega. Is the Vega used to be a reliable. transportation in the 70's. While neither car will make any top 100 list, the Vega has a disposable aluminum engine that with luck lasted 40,000 miles. The Pinto engine is still with us in its basic form. My vote goes to the mis-understood Pinto.

1975 Pontiac Astre-(Pontiac's version of the Chevy Vega) - Severe engine problems. Anyone who had a Vega is well aware of GM's failed attempt on this aluminum engine design. 1976 Ford Courrier Pickup (Made by Mazda). Base truck, 90K miles with no problems at all. 1978 Chrysler Lebarron- 110K miles, replaced front brake calipers at 70K miles.

It is in the shop for the 3rd time due to braking issues. Terrible vibration in steering wheel and you can feel it in the seat when brakes are applied. 1st time in shop they turned the rotors at approx 5000 mi. 2nd time in shop at about 9000 miles replaced rotors. I now have 14,500 miles and am having the same issue.

2. The drivers window/door lock problem is a little more intense. Remove the drivers window/lock module and remove the plug in connections and use silicone grease (dielectric grease), available at a parts store on the connections. Reinstall and see if that fixes the problem.
