Everyone talks about tire pressure but just how accurate are those gauges you use to measure tire pressure. I started out with a collection of 38 tire gauges (loaned to me) Various sizes and shapes, some new and some very old. Also we tested some digital gauges some cheap the others expensive.

We have about 27K miles and finally the Toyota dealer agreed to replace the tires (no charge) after excessive wear. At $240-250 per tire this was pleasant news to me! Just get alternate tires that have equivalent diameter so the odometer is accurate. For my 20" tires, the equivalent in 18" tires that I got for Blizzaks was 235/65 R18. Lots of websites online that will show you alternate sizes that keep the same diameter to assure the odometer and speedomerters are correct.

Reducing the inflation pressure increases the risk of a tire failure. The vehicle tire placard is required by law and given recent events, what is imprinted there is carefully considered. I'm going to suggest that your second guessing the vehicle manufacturer on tire pressure is a lot like Russian Roulette.

I recently had my 1999 4runner serviced (oil change, etc.). Now the gas gauge is all over the place. I get in to go somewhere the gauge indicates down a 1/4 tank, I get to the end of the block -- now its indicates down 1/2 tank, get to my destination -- now its back up to a 1/4 tank.

Fuel pressure: Key ON, engine OFF - 58-64 psi Engine running at idle - Pressure should DECREASE by 3 to 10 psi Remember that low fuel pressure, does not necessarily indicate a bad fuel pump. It could indicate a bad fuel pressure regulator.

The first was the low tire pressure warning light, which has come on 2-3 times when the car was cold and first beginning to be driven after being left outside for 3-4 hours (I should add that the temperature here has been in the single digits and low teens for the past week).

Our fuel gauge would suddenly drop from around 3/4 full to below 1/2 and it clearly was an incorrect reading. We are now experiencing big problems with the two fuel pumps on the CX7 (it has a regular fuel pump and a high pressure one). Apparently the sender unit on the regular fuel pump was the source of the inaccurate fuel gauge reading.
