Washington’s the Evergreen state and this flag is the only one in America to have a primarily green canvas. And state seal isn’t complex like the others, it’s just a drawing of George Washington (which is who the state is named after) who anyone driving 200 feet away can see and tell from a flagpole.

2023年5月8日 · Earlier i posted my shot at redesigning the Washington State flag (the second image). I had received criticism from family and friends from other platforms aside from Reddit, that mountains would better represent Washington state!

This flag was created by Bradley Lockhart, a graphic designer from Bellingham who created the flag that is in use in Bellingham today. I think it would be pretty cool to see a redesign of the Washington State flag, one that honors the geography of the state. Link to the article.

2022年6月14日 · especially as Eastern Washington otherwise doesn't really fit into the color pallet. I dunno, I think some gold would really make this pop! It's just that the state is very politically divided and it would be nice to have a flag that shows the land of both sides (and I'm saying this as a left leaning Western Washingtonian).

And that flag and the 13 stars aren't very specific to the state of Washington, which leaves the symbolism a bit lacking in terms of representing the state as opposed to the origin of its name. That said, the current flag has that problem worse, and this is definitely miles above it …

2022年6月14日 · Based on a design by Preston Knapp, the flag is broadly an abstraction of the original flag adopted in 1923 containing the state seal. The new center icon is blue for the Pacific Ocean and Puget Sound, gold for the fertile soil and valleys of eastern Washington, and white for the snow-capped Cascade Mountains.
