Boneless vs. bone-in pork butt smoke times - Smoking Meat Forums
Jan 7, 2011 · A bone-in butt is quite a bit thicker chunk of meat than the boneless butt. I've read to allow 1.5 hrs per pound @ 225 for bone-in, is it significantly less for boneless? These are 7 lb butts, so I don't want to screw up and overcook 14 lbs of meat!!

May 10, 2019 · However I was comparing the taste of the Shoulder Blade bone in Butt with the Shoulder Blade boneless Butt. Those 2 don't make a difference in flavor. Both Awesome!! However, IMHO, there is a big difference between the Great tasting Shoulder Blade Butt (bone or no bone), than the not as Great tasting Shoulder Shank Bone Butt.

Jul 22, 2015 · Yeah Costco sells boneless butts for $1.89. Wegmans sells bone-in butts for $1.49. I'm trying to figure out which one offers better value. Whats the breakeven point for bone-in butts so I know when I see a good deal. I'm guessing, but if the bone weighs less than 1.5 lbs on an average 7lb butt, then the Wegmans is the better deal right.

Jan 26, 2013 · Most butts in my area come in around 5 LBS. With a 10 LB butt you either gotta big hog? Or you might have a lot more of the shoulder cut in than us usually sold as a "butt" or pork shoulder blade roast. You will have no problem cutting that 10 pounder in half.

I don't like to use the word waste really because all that fat serves it's purpose. I figure on 3 to 4 sammies per pound. I just purchased about 60lbs of Creekstone Farms bone in pork butts. I expect a even higher yield from these.

Jan 22, 2010 · The simple reason is if your getting above the 140 degree safety zone and then cooking to proper min temp. In this case approx 160 for pork, then finishing at well above this then you have destroyed any harmful bacteria that may have been on outside of meat. Remember that cooking to proper temps is your safety friend.
