LAMPEDUSA, Italy (Reuters) -At least 26 people died in a migrant shipwreck on Wednesday off the southern Italian island of Lampedusa and 60 survivors were brought ashore, the coastguard said, warning more bodies could be missing as search operations continue.

A boat carrying nearly 100 migrants capsized Wednesday in international waters off the Italian island of Lampedusa , killing at least 26 people and leaving about a dozen missing, the Italian coast guard and U.

At least 27 migrants have died after two boats capsized as they tried to cross the Mediterranean from Libya to Italy. Around 60 survivors were rescued from the seas off the island of Lampedusa, while the search for others continues.
