Costco is recalling smoked salmon products over possible listeria contamination. Listeria is a bacteria that contaminates foods and can cause listeriosis, which is the third-leading cause of death from foodborne illness in the US. Listeria can spread in food processing facilities, according to the US Center for Disease Controls and Prevention.

(CNN) – Costco is recalling chicken and smoked salmon products due to listeria concerns. The chicken products include Rana Chicken Truffle Carbonara and Tagliatelle Grilled Chicken and Portabello Mushroom Sauce. Costco informed customers of those details in a letter sent Oct. 11.

The El Monterey and Rana recalls are part of the Department of Agriculture’s Class 1 recall of cooked chicken products produced in BrucePac’s Durant, Oklahoma, facility. Items should be returned to Costco for a refund, and the food should not be consumed.
