The Prince and Princess of Wales have repeatedly been tapped to be the first royals to greet foreign dignitaries to state visits since King Charles' accession

President Donald Trump and his wife, First Lady Melania, were greeted by Britain's Prince William, heir to King Charles III, and his wife Kate Middleton as they touched down on the grounds of Windsor Castle on Wednesday morning. Regiments of the Royal Guard were also in position, per tradition, to mark the start of the presidential visit.

This morning, the British royal family welcomed United States President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump to Windsor Castle for the American couple’s official visit to the United Kingdom.

The Princess of Wales wore a burgundy Emilia Wickstead dress and a matching hat by Jane Taylor. From both the Queen and the Princess, it's a strong showing for British designers. Catherine completed her look with a feather brooch.

Prince Harry's visit to Britain, during which he met with King Charles, turned up the heat on Prince William and Princess Kate.

On the occasion of President Trump’s state visit to the UK, the First Lady and the Princess of Wales are planning one-on-one time at Frogmore Gardens in Windsor.
