The Las Vegas Raiders fell on Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers thanks in part to quarterback Geno Smith.
What Smith needs as much as anything is a run game, which would help open up those deep routes. Las Vegas averaged a league-low 79.8 yards rushing last season, which is why the Raiders drafted running back Ashton Jeanty sixth this year.
Despite drafting talented running back Ashton Jeanty with their first round pick this offseason, the Raiders running game has struggled. The unit is averaging 2.9 yards a carry with eight rushing first downs, both the second fewest in the league this season. Getting things going on the ground seems imperative for this contest.

Raiders can showcase growth within AFC West by beating Chargers in Week 2
The Raiders' last victory over the Chargers was the historic 63-21 display in Week 15 of 2023. The Raiders are 2-4 in their last six overall meetings with the Chargers. Of course, Coach Carroll wasn't on the sidelines for any of those matchups.
