Bongards Creameries has just approved another $125 million expansion that will allow for more intake of milk and higher production of cheese and whey.

Bongards' Creameries and Land O' Lakes Inc have announced the purchase by Bongards' of the Land O' Lakes cheese manufacturing facility in Perham MN. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Another plant in Perham employs nearly 100 people and makes natural cheese and whey powder products. Bongards' Creameries celebrated their 100th anniversary in 2008.

Bongards took a few tour groups through their Perham factory recently and explained just exactly what it takes to make their cheese.

Bongards’ also enjoys great employee longevity. Of the 184 employees at its Bongards’ plant (an additional 96 are employed in Perham), many have worked with them for 30 years or more.
