After entering Monday night’s game in place of the injured Yordan Alvarez, Cole hit a go-ahead two-run homer and added an RBI single as the Astros defeated the Rangers, 6-3, in the opener of a three-game series at Daikin Park.
Cole navigated injuries and a swing overhaul before it all clicked. His home run on Friday exited the bat at 114.3 mph. According to Statcast, the Astros had only hit two balls harder all season. Yordan Alvarez struck both of them.
