The meeting comes after the Ukrainian president drew Trump’s ire by rejecting a rare earth minerals proposal and insisting that Ukraine be included in any peace talks with Russia.

As the war approached its three-year mark, Trump had called Zelenskyy a "dictator without elections" and a "modestly successful comedian" while being deferential to Putin, saying that the U.S. would negotiate the terms of a deal with Russia.
