Quick Edit is one of the newest features to hit the Google Photos app. And after just a few minutes of using it, I disabled it ASAP.

Google appears to have enabled the Quick edit feature via a server-side update, as it’s available on several of our devices running an older build of Google Photos (version 7.24).

Google is rolling out a new feature for its Photos app called Quick Edit, which allows users to apply image processing on the sharing screen for a last minute touch-up.

Google Photos introduces Quick Edit feature. The shortcuts row includes quick access to Favorites, Recently Added, the last viewed album, and Trash, making navigation more intuitive.

The updated version of Quick Edit with the new option to turn it off is in the code for version 7.14 of the Google Photos app but hasn’t been rolled out to users yet.

Disabling Quick Edit in Google Photos is a matter of preference. If you find yourself making quick crops to photos before sending them off to friends or posting them, maybe leave the feature on.
