MSNBC is part of Comcast’s spinoff of many of its cable networks into a new entity, Versant, expected to be completed later this year. As part of the spinoff, MSNBC is being renamed MS NOW.

NBC News, MSNBC split will start in earnest on Oct. 6, when NBC News personnel can no longer make appearances on MSNBC.

Washington, D.C.-based correspondents will continue appearances through October 20, after which the split between the two networks will fully go into effect.
