The GitHub account of Canonical Ltd., the company behind the popular Ubuntu Linux distribution, was hacked over the weekend on July 6.

Ubuntu source code appears to be safe; however Canonical is investigating.

MapR and Canonical announced a partnership to put the MapR Hadoop distribution on Ubuntu. The company also put its source code on GitHub.

Spun off from Canonical's Internet of Things Linux, the immutable Ubuntu Core Desktop is moving closer to reality.
