Scanning a QR code without your phone requires a little help from Google or a webcam.

Popular password manager app 1Password has added a useful new feature—QR codes that share wifi with guests. The app automatically generates these wifi QR codes for saved networks.

Conveniently share your Wi-Fi network name and password via QR code with your nearby family and friends by having them scan the code – no links or extra taps needed,” says the 1Password team.

Use online tools like WiFi Card or QiFi to create a printable QR code for your Wi-Fi password. This way, it becomes easy to distribute it.

With SMS an unsecure method of authentication, Google is eyeing a more robust solution with QR codes.
