You can back up and restore files with Windows’ built-in File History tool — but there are key limitations you should know.
To get started with File History in the latest version of Windows 10, open the Settings app and go to Update & Security > Backup.
File History will automatically back up critical folders and files in Windows and help you restore them.
Open File Explorer and navigate to the folder whose files you want to restore. At the top of the File Explorer screen, under the Home tab, is a button named 'History' as shown below.
If you want to reset File History settings to default in Windows 11/10, it can be done from its original location or using the command prompt.
