There are two editions of Minecraft: Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. Both versions might look identical, but they have many differences.
There are many choices of what version of Minecraft to get - the free version, the Java versions and the Bedrock edition. But what makes them different?
Minecraft: Java Edition is the original version of the game for computers, while Bedrock is a newer version available on nearly every device.
While the Bedrock Edition does have add-ons, it features more paid content to add to the game, whereas the Java version lets you install mods (such as texture packs) for free.
Due to their different audiences, there's always been a rift between Bedrock and Java Editions of Minecraft. However, come November 2, that will change, to an extent.
It includes both Java and Bedrock Editions. Minecraft was already available on Xbox Game Pass for Console.
