Microsoft today announced that its next SQL Server version will hit general availability status on June 1.

Microsoft is inching closer to rolling out SQL Server 2016, with the near-final release candidate due out any day now.

Much has been written about SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, but the topic of SQL Server Failover Cluster Instances (FCI) that span both availability zones and regions is far less discussed.
