Bars of snail slime soap are seen in Desrocher’s lab. Reuters Desrocher said slime contained molecules of collagen and elastin, which have anti-aging and skin-healing properties.

A single snail will yield about 2 grams of slime, meaning he needs around 40 snails to produce 80 grams - enough to manufacture 15 100-gram soap bars. “We need quite a lot of snails," he said.

Using a standard bottle cap, twist the cap into the bottom of a bar of a soap and you have yourself a little platform for the soap to stand on.

Snail slime is a popular ingredient in some beauty products from South Korea. It contains elastin and collagen, and some even claim it has anti-aging properties.
