Windows’ built-in system backup program, System Restore, allows you to revert Windows and your applications to what they were at a previous time.
Learn how to create manual restore points, or change when they are created automatically.
One of the oldest Windows recovery tools, System Restore, is disabled by default on most Windows 10 installations. Here's how to re-enable this still-useful feature.
System restore is part of the Microsoft Windows Operating System. It allows the rolling back of system files, installed programs, registry keys, etc. to an earlier state in case of a system breakdown.
If you want to create a restore point manually, return to the System Protection tab under System Properties. Click the appropriate drive and hit the Create button.
Automatically Create System Restore Point at startup To do this, you will have to make use of the Task Scheduler, which is an inbuilt Windows tool that helps users perform a task at a predefined time.
So it’s a good idea to manually create a new restore point every few days, or before you install a program or alter Windows in any way.
