Tigers right-hander Keider Montero (5-3, 4.32 ERA) will face Braves left-hander Joey Wentz (5-6, 5.56). Montero was brilliant in five shutout innings on Sept. 14 in Miami, allowing just three hits without a walk in his first MLB start since July.

The Detroit Tigers turned to veteran right-hander Charlie Morton on Friday evening for a crucial game against the Atlanta Braves. In danger of blowing a 15.5 game lead in the American League Central division, Detroit was just swept by the Cleveland Guardians and saw its advantage atop the division shrink to 3.5 games.

Charlie Morton is a World Series hero from 2017, a two-time champion and a seven-year postseason veteran. He has more experience in big late-season games than some of his Tigers teammates have Major League experience overall.
