Former Saturday Night Live cast member Punkie Johnson spoke for many fans of the long-running late-night sketch comedy show in late August, with three simple words: “wtf is happening.” Her comment came in response to the announcement that cast member Michael Longfellow was leaving the show after three seasons.
Saturday Night Live” Season 51 is going to have a star-studded start. The NBC series announced Thursday that Bad Bunny, Amy Poehler and Sabrina Carpenter will host the first three episodes of the new season.
Nwodim is one of five people exiting “SNL ” before its new season, joining Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker and Emil Wakim. Five new cast members, including Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Ben Marshall, Kam Patterson and Veronika Slowikowska, will join the series.
Ego Nwodim is the latest to leave the Saturday Night Live cast. Nwodim made the announcement on Instagram, and rather than let fans guess what happened to cause her exit, she readily offered in her statement that it was her own decision.
Ego's announcement is just the latest in the major shakeup ahead of season 51. On September 2, SNL revealed the five new cast members joining the show – BenMarshall, TommyBrennan, JeremyCulhane, KamPatterson, and Veronika Slowikowska. And while SNL welcomes fresh faces to the cast, many are returning too.
