Double-click the "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" category in the Device Manager window to display its contents. Right-click your sound card and select "Uninstall" from the context menu.

If the Windows Audio Troubleshooter says Generic Audio Driver Detected, you have to enable the audio services & reinstall/update the drivers.
