How to draw a shape in Word When some people think of the word "draw," it conjures images of creating shapes, lines, and similar objects.

There are several different types of lines you can insert in a Word document with simple keyboard shortcuts.

To do so, click the Line tool and then hold down the Shift key while you click and drag to insert the line. Doing so forces Excel to draw a straight line between the two clicked points.
