Also known as a Comma Separated Value file, a comma delimited file is a standard file type that a number of different data-manipulation programs can read and understand, including Microsoft Excel.

The comma-separated values, or CSV, file format uses plain text to represent the individual cell values and row contents of spreadsheet data.

To change which separator Google Sheets uses to split the names, click on the dropdown menu next to the separated names. Choose between comma, semicolon, period, space, or custom.
