PlayStation 4 software update 4.5 is here and it's delivered external hard drive support - but what's the best way to make the most of it?
It was a long time coming but you can finally connect an external hard disc drive (HDD) to your PlayStation 4 (PS4) or PS4 Pro.
Following the PS4 firmware update 4.5, which is due to launch shortly, gamers will be able to add an external hard drive to PS4 to increase storage by up to 8 TB.
Any external HDD or SSD that connects via USB 3.0 will work with PS5 (and PS4 too), and will give you lots of room for all your games. So, which external hard drives are best?
These can be traditional kinetic HDDs or an external SSD, though these will still be restricted to only supporting PS4 and PSVR games. Can I reuse my external drive from PS4?

At the time of writing, you can use an external HDD to store and play PS4 games only. All of your Create button Media Gallery content and Saved Data will be stored on the PS5's SSD.
