It’s not every day that you read a headline with both Google and Microsoft. Google is announcing today that its managed database service Cloud SQL will soon support Microsoft SQL Server.

Earlier this week the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) team announced the alpha release of Cloud SQL for Microsoft SQL Server.

Google on Wednesday announced Cloud SQL for Microsoft SQL Server, a fully-managed service that will come to Google Cloud Platform customers later this year.

Cloud SQL will be a managed SQL Server cloud service offered by Google as a “sneak preview,” the company plans to announce Wednesday at Google Cloud Next 2019.

Cloud SQL, Google’s fully managed MySQL database service on its Cloud Platform, is getting a major upgrade today with the beta launch of version two of the service.
