I took the 5GHz connected computer, disconnected from the network, and reconnected to the 2.4GHz network. No dice, the two wireless computers still cannot see each other.

They can see each other and they can see the XP computers, but they cannot access any shared folders on the XP computers (says that that computer is not available on the network).
