The Republican governors of West Virginia, South Carolina and Ohio announced Saturday they will send National Guard troops to Washington, DC, in an escalation of President Donald Trump’s efforts to federally take over law enforcement in the city.

Republican-led states are sending National Guard troops to D.C. to support President Trump's anti-crime efforts, with hundreds of soldiers from West Virginia, South Carolina, and Ohio being deployed to nearly double the 800 D.

West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced that he is sending hundreds of National Guard troops from his state to Washington, D.C., to assist with President Donald Trump’s crackdown on violent crime in the capital.
