A new wildfire has broken out in Ventura County as the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire have been burning for one week in Los Angeles County.

Millions of people in Southern California are on alert as critical fire weather returns to the region this week. This comes as thousands of firefighters are continuing their relentless assault on several wildfires that broke out in the Los Angeles area since last week.

Palisades Fire initially started 10:30 a.m. Jan. 7 in Los Angeles County. It has burned 23,713 acres after being active for six days. A crew of 5,200 firefighters has been working on site and they managed to contain 14% of the fire by Monday evening. The blaze's cause remains under investigation.

Updating maps of Southern California show where wildfires, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, are burning across Los Angeles.

Los Angeles County published preliminary damage maps for the Eaton and Palisades fires, which may be incomplete but are being updated daily.
