As the Cleveland Guardians completed a three-game sweep of the Tigers at Comerica Park Thursday, it was hard not to hear Paul Simon’s voice singing, “Slip-sliding away.”

Gavin Williams struck out nine in five innings, Bo Naylor hit a two-run single and the Cleveland Guardians won their season-best sixth straight game, 4-0 over the Detroit Tigers.

The aforementioned Skubal, who left his previous start with side tightness, surrendered just one run across six innings. Guardians starter Tanner Bibee matched Skubal, however, with his own quality start. Cleveland's offense was able to plate two runs off Tigers reliever Troy Melton, both courtesy of Jose Ramirez 's 29th home run of the year.
