The Bruins were bit by the injury bug again on Thursday, as Trent Frederic is now "week to week" with a lower-body injury.

Frequently mentioned in trade rumors and an impending unrestricted free agent, Frederic has had a down year, but his versality could makes him attractive to some teams.

Boston Bruins forward Trent Frederic is considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury, the team announced. Frederic sustained the injury during the Bruins' 5-4 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.

But it did keep the Islanders’ faint hopes alive as they held on for 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins on Thursday night at TD Garden to snap a four-game losing streak. Importantly, goalie Ilya Sorokin was markedly sharper and more aggressive than in Tuesday night’s 5-1 loss to the Rangers at UBS Arena — a game in which the Islanders felt they were the better team but could not keep their rivals from consistently crowding the crease.

The Boston Bruins will face off against the New York Islanders on Feb. 27. The Bruins will look to bounce back after their ugly overtime loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Feb. 25.
