金斯敦，牙买加的首都，也是牙买加首要的港口。它是加勒比海地区较大的都会区之一。金斯敦城是由英国人所建立的，主要目的是为作为运输甘蔗至欧洲。1907年，一场地震使得金斯敦毁损惨重，不过也因为地震后的重建，使得金斯敦城有许多现代化的旅馆、银行与商业办公大厦。该城的贫穷地带有许多问题滋生，甚至常引起政治骚动。 金斯敦始建于1692年，当时用以取代遭地震破坏的罗亚尔港。1703年，皇家海港遭遇大火，促使居民们向金斯敦市迁移的风潮，1713年，金斯顿区成立。1872年又取代西班牙镇为牙买加首府。迭遭大火焚毁，1780年、1782年、1843年都有大火，最严重的一次发生于1882年的大火，连烧了4天4夜，1850年有霍乱流行，1907年1月14日大地震，后又大力重建。
